34, 8 and 3

These are the numbers floating through my head right now. Yes, 34 is the age I turned yesterday. Not much of a milestone birthday, sort of an uneventful day. Gabe was way more excited about it being my birthday then I was. He started off the day telling everyone we saw that it was my birthday. It was cute, but I asked him to stop...a little embarassing really. That is the 34!

Eight is the number of weeks Lily has been in my life. It really seems unbelievable. In certain ways the time has flown by. But when I think that I have only seen her face for eight weeks and the amount of love I feel for her, it is hard to believe it has only been eight weeks. She has been smiling and cooing at us for over a week now. It started with her Daddy who she has been smitten with since day one. She has him wrapped around her little finger. Here she is at 8 weeks. I was trying to catch her smiling...I think I got some good ones.

Isn't she cute?

Finally, 3. I should say, tres. Tomorrow is National Scrapbook Day and we have our Tres de Mayo Crop to celebrate the day. We have 28 people signed up and I am really excited. We also have Beth Proudfoot from Simple Scrapbooks Magazine coming. She is teaching a class to all the croppers as well as meet and greeting people downstairs and doing a make-n-take from 11:30-1. So excited to have her. Just love her to death. If you aren't busy, be sure to stop in and say hi. Miss Lily will be there for part of the day too.

Happy Scrappin'!

I'm busy, being a Mom!

And trying to continue to run a scrapbook store...it has been a little challenging but I am feeling pretty good about what I have accomplished in the past few weeks. The most exciting this was that my favorite photographer came to our house to take pictures of Miss Lily and the family. Here are SOME of my favorites. (There are waayyy too many to choose from.)

Aren't these awesome! Thank Joe! I have been freaking out today because I can't find two memory cards for my camera. I took them to my store two weeks ago to get some prints made, only looked at photos from one before I ran out of time. Now I can't find the cards, I don't have CDs made and I haven't even looked at most of the photos on them. I know most of the pictures are Lily in the hospital. That is the upsetting part. I am hoping I put them somewhere where I will say to myself duh. But I am a little worried, because I am running out of places to look. I really wish my brain was the way it was before two pregnancies. Oh well.

It's a GIRL!!! What a week!

I am assuming that most of my blog readers have already heard the news that Lily Alice Kinnon was born on March 7th at 5:58 PM. She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20" long. Patty has some hospital pictures on her blog. It has been an insane week at the Kinnon household. You would think that adjusting to a new baby at home would be enough for anyone...but oh no, we jumped right in to parenthood of TWO children with both feet. We came home from the hospital last Sunday night and were starting to settle in. We got Miss Lily finally settled down around 2:15 AM. Ryan and I were ready to catch a few zzzz's when 10 minutes later, we hear Gabe getting sick in his bedroom. Well to make a very week long story short. Gabe came down with a very nasty stomach bug which was then passed to my mother, me, Ryan and even my sister. It was a week of throw up, diahrea, lysol, laundry and a complete mess. Miss Lily was the only one who didn't get the bug. Gabe definitely had it the worst. He was throwing up for six days. We survived...somehow. Good news is we are finally all on the mend.

I want to share some photos. Love these of Gabe meeting Lily at the hospital.

Today I took some new pictures of Miss Lily. Here she is at 10 days old. I still can't believe that I had a little girl. How exciting!

I promise more soon!

Progress...in so many ways!

So here is the first way there has been progress.

35weeks

Need I say more? Five weeks to go if I make it until March 5th, my due date. I have this gut wrenching feeling I will be going early. Could it be that it is because we haven't started the nursery yet? Could it be that my parents are in Florida until February 29th? Could it be that I am feeling so large that I don't think my body can do this for another 5 weeks? The answer is yes to all of those things. Only time will tell. Oh and if you did one of those face cringes when I mentioned that we haven't started the nursery yet, don't worry. It is on the agenda for this week. Some how it will all get done. Now why haven't we started the nursery yet? Well that brings me to my next point of progress...CHECK THIS OUT!!!!

Kitchen1 Kitchen2

We are moved into our new kitchen...FINALLY. The last two days were the official move in and I got plumbing in my sink. I have cabinets, I have counter top, I have lights and working outlets. I have a stove, oven and refrigerator. I even have a microwave and ice (which I haven't had since we moved in July.) Just yesterday I got a working dishwasher and sink. Isn't it pretty? Now obviously there are still things that need to be done like a tile back splash, trim, kick plates. I still have to put together two of the chairs for the island. They just came yesterday. But look at the progress! Yippee for me. I am so happy and loving it. I wonder how many times we will rearrange our cabinets now that I put things away? OK, so it is time to move on to my final progress.

Layout1Layout2 Layout3

I actually did some scrapbooking two weekends ago. I got a lot accomplished. Here are a couple of layouts I worked on. I tried to use up a lot of stuff I had in my stash for a long time. The one thing I could not stop using was the clear arylic stamps from Autumn Leaves. I LOVE THOSE THINGS. That and my QuicKutz. Fun stuff.

OK, I am vowing to be a better blogger. But I might go into a slight absence while we prepare nursery. But my goal is a 10 day max until it is finished. Then big projects before baby are all done. I really want to tell you all about the new stuff that I have been seeing that is coming out for the CHA show in two weeks. Very exciting stuff. Some of which I have already ordered, some of which I will be ordering and some which I know I haven't even seen yet. I promise to post about that once said nursery is done. Can't wait.

I AM GOING TO BLOG TODAY! (The long catch up)

That is what I have been saying for weeks, but today is the morning I woke up and said, I REALLY AM going to blog today. I never thought it would get this bad, but I don't think my life has ever been this insane. So 1st of all here is a life update...(Appropriate photos are inserted throughout)

My last post (besides the out of necessity one), was right after we got back from Utah in June (yes that was four months ago!). Soon after that we moved to our new house, so moving...that keeps you pretty busy right?  We got through the 4th of July holiday and some company visiting only to find out the next week that I am pregnant. We did manage to get to the Kutztown Folk Festival, but it was like a day after we moved and I couldn't find my camera. Bought a disposable, but don't have those digital yet. Ahhh...let the morning sickness begin. (I really don't know why they call it that, especially since so many people, like myself, have it all day long.) Well a few weeks after that was the CK Convention and those couple of weeks before that are ALWAYS busy, let alone when you can barely get out of bed. So heck with unpacking...all my energy went to either taking care of Gabe (I'm talking the bare essentials...feeding, and bathing) and getting ready for the convention. I should mention that official potty training (no more diapers) started right after we moved in.

The weekend before the convention my friends from Boston came with their daughters. The highlight of their visit was our trip to Sesame Place. Blogsesame

(My friend Kim, Gabe in the middle and Kim's oldest daughter Kirbie on right...I couldn't go on cuz of pregnancy and I would have been even sicker!)

Immediately after the convention was Gabe's birthday.  Literally, the next day. (Can't seem to find those pictures right now either...geez)

August...hmmm let me remember...I remember their being lots of sickness, nauseau and naps. There were store meetings cancelled because of sickness....do I really need to remember this? OK, focus on the good memories. I remember trying to play catch up at the store, but never really being caught up. Right...back to the good August memories. I don't think I mentioned yet how the house we moved into is a fixer-uper type. You know the kind that needs a ton of work, there will always be a million things to  do. Well, the first thing is the kitchen. I didn't take a picture, but I should. Our current kitchen is a little outdated...bright orange countertops, dark wood cabinets that are rotting, leaky sink, worn out brown linoleum(sp?) floor that is peeling. Well, our first project is not only to redo the kitchen, but we are moving it to another part of the house, bigger better, but yah...what a project. So construction really started in August. I don't have a before picture, but trust me, there have been lots of improvements. Towards the end of August Gabe and I went to Dorney Park with Tante Kimmy, Tante Patty, Sarah and Ben.

Then the next week, Tante Kimmy, Gabe and I went to visit Aunt Sue and Brian at the beach house just before Labor Day Weekend. (Just realized don't have pictures handy, cuz most were on a disposable.)

Ok, so that takes us to September. Gabe started preschool in Early September, Tuesday and Thursdays a couple days a week. Here is the first day of school photo. I remember being really excited about the potential of having some more time at the store on Tuesday mornings while Gabe is at school (FYI - I now know that there are a million other things I like to get done in that time too and as of October have only spent 2 Tuesday mornings there..hee hee)

Blog1stday

September was a lot more of construction and at some point towards the end of September the morning sickness finally subsided. This is month that I actually caught up on store stuff after the months of being behind and stressed. Yup, feeling pretty good about things. (Just so you know being caught up is still not planning too far ahead, which is where I would really like to be.) OK, so let's just say that takes us to October (feel like I missing something, but I can't remember.)

And as you know, beginning of October is always our Crop for a Cure. The event went really well this year, and this is my first official word, that although I don't have the exact total yet, but I know we raised the most this year then we ever did over $6000. Thanks to all who have participated and I will get you the final total soon! Sorry, I don't have any photos, but you can always check out Patty's blog, and go back to beginning of October, she always have a few photos.  Fun stuff.

Ok, so sometime soon after (or maybe even before) I got a brilliant idea to make a halloween costume for Gabe. I asked my Mom if she would help since it would involve sewing and I haven't sewn since 8th grade. So after the crop was over I started cutting material and pinning and stuff...more on that later. On October 12th, we left for Florida on a quick, trip to visit our friends in Port Charlotte. About 3 weeks before we went we decided to take a day trip to Disney for Gabe's first official visit. We told him 2 days before we left and he was sooooo excited. We went there that Saturday and he was thrilled. He had such a good time! Some photos...

We came back and the next day was the trip to the Pumpkin Patch with Gabe's Preschool. (Daddy was in between jobs so he could come too.)

Came back from Disney and had the big push to get the halloween costume done. I spent many hours and days at my mother's working on the costume and thank goodness for moms who know something about sewing. So...Saturday was trick-or-treat...here he is in his costume.

Bloglion1 Bloglion2

Tomorrow is his preschool program and parade and we will trick-or-treat to some relatives on Halloween! So I am sure more photos are to come. One more update as far as the construction. So in the "new" kitchen, this is what we (no so much me) have done so far:

  • Tore down a half wall that separated it with another room
  • Tore down some built-in cabinetry which uncovered some major chimney and other problems
  • Fixed those problems
  • Raised a sunken floor to be even with the rest of the house
  • Changed a steel door to a window
  • Changed a bow window to a door with sidelights
  • Started electrical for outlets and appliances
  • AND FINALLY...this weekend, we have a new tile floor! Yippee

Coming in the next few weeks:

  • Finish dry walling in some additional wall, build island wall
  • Finish electrical outlets and lighting
  • Painting
  • Plumber comes
  • Cabinets installed
  • Appliances delivered
  • Countertops installed
  • Backsplash done
  • MOVE IN!!!! (how exciting)

Here is a current photo of the new space with the new floor.

Just some other random thoughts:

  • We are STILL working on potty training 4 months later
  • The kitchen project is just one of a major list that NEEDS to be done
  • Through this whole thing I have been unpacking, but our entire garage is still full of stuff (mostly because of the construction)
  • Notice there is no scrapbook time listed anywhere on this post
  • My Enter button just fell off my new laptop and I don't know how to put it back on
  • I haven't had a microwave since we moved
  • The baby is due March 5th
  • Yes I am over half way and still haven't taken a picture of my belly
  • If I find missing birthday or beach pictures, I will post them

OK, so you are caught up. This took me hours, so I can not let this happen again.

I promised Gabe that I WE would work on a scrapbook of his Disney photos when he got up from his nap this afternoon. I have to scan some autographs. YES, he is going to help. This is our first joint project. I will let you know how it goes.

CK Convention Images

I am still alive, I swear it!  This is a post out of necessity! I promised the ladies who took my class at CK Valley Forge images!  Here they are... (sorry they are two days late!)

For those of you wondering where I've been, well I am not sure what to say other than I truly can not remember a more hectic time in my life then the past month. Tonight is Gabe's family birthday party once I get through that, updating the website, getting out the August newsletter, finalizing September's calendar and getting out the crop for the cure information, I will be back in touch. Hopefully next week!

Greetings from Utah!

I am here in Utah at a QuicKutz retailer event. I didn't think I would be able to blog here because I didn't have a laptop. However, I have been wanting one and ending up ordering one. I wasn't expecting it to arrive before my trip, but it came 20 minutes before I left for the airport. I stuffed it in my carry on and off I went. I took me awhile to figure out how to get my wireless internet connection up and running. So here I am. Right now I am trying to load up my photoshop elements programs so I can post some pictures.

Having a great time. Lots of great information and great stuff coming from QuicKutz. They are truly a first class company. I can't tell you about the new products, but I am really excited about the potential!  (Don't worry, there isn't a new tool, if that is what you were thinking!) Got to tour the die plant. The dies are made right here in Utah, that was a really interesting process. It always amazing to see the inner workings of a location.

I figured out why when I call anyone from Utah, they are always so friendly! The view around here is absoulutely amazing. This is the view from the QuicKutz die plant. How would you like to see this outside your work window?

Here are some photos I took inside. Really interesting stuff!

If you have been waiting on the summer release dies, the first 3 weeks will be in the store next week. Good news! More later if I have time. I am off to crop night for some more fun.

Packing, Sprinkling, Drinking and MORE Packing!

So, yes, I have been a bad blog slacker once again. I think that I am finally going to accept that it is who I am and stop feel guilty about it! Here is what I have been doing!!! So much more to go.

Img_4064_2

Not sure if you can really tell how many boxes are there. But lots and like I said so much more to do.

Today we took a break and went to visit Gabe's 2nd cousin Shiloh. Shiloh and Gabe are a little over a week apart. They had fun running in the sprinkler. Love these photos...ahhh to be almost three again!

Img_4049

Earlier in the week, we were invited to go to a soft opening of Allentown Brew Works. My cousin is one of the sioux (sp?) chefs there, so a bunch of my family went down.  This is my favorite photo. My Aunt and Grandmother drinking a beer. Not a common sight at all! It makes me smile...but it is the BREW WORKS, so you had to try it!

Suegmabeer

I leave to go to a QuicKutz retailer event in Utah on Tuesday. (Yeah!) So soon I have to start a different kind of packing. If you don't here from me before Tuesday, I won't be bloggin' for more then a week. (Not that it really different from any other week!)

I uploaded...

a bunch of Hawaii layouts I completed a few weekends ago.  Here is my favorite. The rest are in the my layouts album. You need to click on the image to get the full view.

Pearlhbrweb

These layouts were really more about the photos. I am loving my NEW camera. Especially now that I figured out how to get rid of my blue pictures :-)

Life Update!

Ok, so since I last wrote (and YES I know it has been awhile) we sold our house, bought a new house and are about to embark on huge home remodeling project in the new house. I will save all the details on the home remodeling project for a later time, when I have photos to tell the story.

Today, we took Gabriel to the Cetronia Fire Station. I am fortunate to have a customer who has been a volunteer firefighter there for over 14 years. She invited us to bring Gabe so he could check it out. He was overwhelmed with excitment and joy. The photos really tell the story! Thank you so much Melissa, for making a little boy's day, week and even month! (BTW Gabe thinks that you live there and keeps asking to go back to Melissa's house! AND we decided that visiting the fire trucks again, is a great bribe for successful potty training, so depending on how much he wants to come back again, we may have to see you soon...let's hope!)

Melissagabegearweb Gabehatweb

Gloryweb Hoseweb Drivingweb

Familytruckweb

So the captions are: Melissa in her gear, while Gabe not so enthusied; Gabe loves Melissa's hat, but it is really heavy and he needs to hold it on; Riding in a fire truck, makes me smile my biggest smile; Playing with a hose and water...a boy's dream; Driving a fire truck is almost as fun as riding in one; Oh, Mom and Dad were there too!

Ok, so the other thing that happened was Gabe decided not to nap like 4 days this week, so I still want to upload some shot of what I was scrappin' the other weekend. I might even get to that later tonight. I promise. I just about finished our Hawaii album!

Even more exciting for me...today I figured out why all my pictures were coming out blue when I was using the full manual setting on my DigiSLR. It is still sort of a new toy. Sometime when we were in Hawaii all my manual pictures were coming out blue. Today (only 4 months later) I realized that my white balance setting was completely on something weird. I don't even know what the symbols stand for, but I fixed it today (not until after the fire truck pictures) but I am just happy I finally figured it out. I like playing with my manual settings. But man was I stumped for a long time!
